Jim Shaw needs your help

for those of you who know him, you probably already donated. for those who don’t, jim shaw is a legend in detroit. he is one of the men behind the scene who’s had something to do with the early formation of what we here identify with. whenever we think of anything hip that ever came out of and came though this city on his watch, he was involved. he worked at Cinderella’s attic for years so he might have dressed you, he brought bands to detroit before they were cool and gave them a place to stay. he’s scouted locations for photo shoots and movies making sure that our city got a fair shake… always smiling, humble, generous to the nines. will drop anything to come by and fix your motorcycle (repeatedly).
jim has a serious case of colon cancer. he’s fighting it and going to win. but jim doesn’t have insurance. already they have accumulated an enormous pile of medical bills. there already was an art auction and benefit concert but before surgery, their bills were already at 60k. he has many more operations and chemotherapy yet. we’re trying to get people to donate money to the paypal account that they set up. not much. not asking for a lot- especially if you don’t know this guy. if you can donate something, even if it’s less than a dollar, that would be wonderful. most importantly, we’re trying to spread the word. if you can’t donate, blog about it or pass it on. maybe it’s a social experiment. lets see how many strangers can donate fifty cents to a good guy they don’t know who’s down on his luck.
